Tim Rensch, M.S., ASAE - President

M.S. in Environmental Science with honors from Shippensburg University along with dual B.S. degrees with honors in both Environmental and Political Science. Initial work as a graduate research assistant provided a solid background in analytical research methods involving environmental land use problems. Research was primarily focused upon blending knowledge in technical disciplines such as hydrology with a governmental and cultural geography background in order to address issues in relation to environmental land use planning to allow for effective siting of community resources.

Tim joined Falling Spring Environmental Services, Inc. in 1998 as a Technical Scientist to couple scientific validation with the initial operational development of what was to become the INTEGRITY Nutrient Control System. Tim later served Falling Spring Environmental as Technical Director and led the initiative to focus upon nutrient segregation possibilities of agricultural waste streams via separation, aeration and other wasterwater treatment methodologies.

Tim has been involved in the waste treatment design of hundreds of agricultural operations. He has written numerous articles and presented on various topics relating to agricultural waste treatment before industrial, governmental and academic organizations. He has been certified nutrient management planner and is a member of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. Additionally, Rensch has testified as a qualified expert witness on multiple occasions in cases relating to the potential environmental impacts of confined animal operations.

While working for Handy and Harman Automotive in 1989, Jim entered Research and Development and designed, tested and introduced control cable and pedal products for the automotive industry. After three years in this role, he advanced to Senior Product/Project Engineer where he had responsibility for the design, quality and manufacturability of three product lines. In 1994, Jim became Product Engineering Supervisor and Continuous Improvement Specialist. During his tenure in this role, Jim and his team were able to institute lean manufacturing techniques that resulted in $300,000 annualized savings in efficiency and major reductions in inventory, lead times and floor space requirements.

In 1997, while completing his B.A. at Shepherd University, he formed Lean Manufacturing and Engineering Services, an engineering, quality and lean manufacturing firm specializing in providing support to Tier 1 automotive suppliers. In 1998, Jim accepted the role of Production Superintendent at Teleflex Automotive and, in a joint effort with Ford Motor Company, was an integral member of the team that launched the first adjustable pedal systems in North America.

Jim accepted a role with TFX Marine in 2000 as a JIT manager where he and his team introduced just in time material management systems resulting in a 25% reduction in inventory and an 85% reduction in past due customer orders.

In 2001, he became Plant Manager of Teleflex Marine and Industrial and served in this senior operations role until March of 2008. Jim managed all division operations - Manufacturing, Quality, Human Resources, Engineering, Purchasing, Safety/Environmental, Customer Service, Continuous Improvement, IT and Materials. Through implementation of lean, Jim and his team realized improvements in delivery (24%), productivity (20%), quality (35%), inventory (20%) and scrap (35%). He and his team also developed and implemented lean training systems for multiple divisions.

Jim was certified as a continuous improvement specialist at Handy and Harman and has conducted lean training, based upon the Toyota Production System, at multiple manufacturing facilities. He is also a member of the Society for Manufacturing Engineers and is Co-Director of the W.O.D. Youth Camp.

Dan Hofstetter, PE, ASAE - Consulting Engineer

Dan earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Technology at the University of Delaware (UD) in 1997. After graduation, Dan worked for the Bioresources Engineering Department at UD as a research assistant where he used soil test data and manure nutrient analysis to generate variable rate land application maps for dairy manure using a Global Positioning System (GPS) with a precision manure spreader. He later designed yield monitors for peas, lima beans, and pickling cucumbers, plotted the yield data using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and predicted future yields using a combination of harvest and grid soil sampling data. Dan continued this work with Royster-Clark in 1998 where he used GIS and field data to generate variable rate lime recommendations and application maps for corn and soybean fields. In 1999, Dan began working for McLanahan Corporation where he designed sand-laden dairy manure handling and bedding machinery and complete manure handling systems for dairy farms. This work included the design of horizontal augers and flush channels to remove sand-laden dairy manure from freestall barns, integration of sand-manure separation machinery with new and existing facilities, sizing and design of first and second stage manure storages, and piping system design for recycled water. Dan joined Nutrient Control Systems (NCS), Inc. in early 2003 to establish an internal engineering department for the purpose of designing and further developing complete INTEGRITY manure systems including liquid-solid separation facilities, composting facilities, and PulseJet land application systems.

Dan has been involved in the design of dozens of manure treatment and handling facilities across the United States. He is a registered Professional Engineer, certified U.S government Technical Services Provider (TSP) and a member of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE).

Kyle Rife - Field Engineer

Kyle is a recent graduate of the State University of New York's agricultural campus in Cobleskill, New York. In the spring of 2005, he gained an associates degree in Agricultural Science, with a concentration on Agricultural Engineering Technology. Kyle decided to continue his education at Cobleskill, recently achieving a Bachelor of Technology degree in Agricultural Engineering, with a concentration in Agricultural Equipment Technology.

Kyle's interests in machinery and engineering began at a very young age and increased when he began working around farm equipment on a local horse farm as a farm hand and groom. Wanting to further increase his knowledge in machinery, Kyle obtained a position at a Kubota and commercial landscape equipment dealership as a mechanic's assistant in 2001, eventually being promoted to mechanic. He worked for the dealership for five years as he achieved his high school and college education.

Kyle began his career with INTEGRITY as an intern during the summer of 2006. His interest grew greatly in the equipment and systems related to manure management which gave him the desire to continue increasing his knowledge in the field. Kyle's greatest interests are in research and development, design, and manufacturing of current and upcoming equipment. If there is a way to make a particular machine operate more efficiently with and increased service life, it must be discovered. In addition, Kyle assists with installations and service of manure systems and related equipment.

Kyle's interests in machinery also lead him to one of his passions, collecting and restoring antique farm machinery. In 2000, Kyle organized and headed the Southeast Pennsylvania Antique Tractor and Machinery Club. The club held its first antique tractor show in May of 2001 to benefit an area therapeutic horseback riding and driving program. Kyle's community service work through the antique tractor club gained him the 2001 Young Citizen Award from the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, in addition to the 2003 Lions Pride Award from his high school.
