ODOR - Untreated manure slurry is anaerobic (no oxygen). Anaerobes produce ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and other obnoxious odors. Agitation of the lagoon and surface spreading by tanker releases obnoxious odors into the air leading to neighbor complaints. INTEGRITY AG Systems can treat manure so that it can be pumped easily and land applied with virtually no odor by any number of irrigation methods including the INTEGRITY PulseJet.
RUN-OFF - Typical manure slurry is viscous and mucoid in nature. It resists penetrating the surface of the soil. High application rates compound this problem which often leads to run-off events. Manure slurry on the soil surface also caps the soil and inhibits the penetration and effectiveness of sprays. INTEGRITY Ag Systems can treat the lagoon which completely changes the consistency and texture of the manure making it more like water and less like mucous so it penetrates the soil. It can then be easily pumped and applied by irrigation.
COMPACTION - Heavy land application equipment compacts the soil depressing crop yields. Heavy equipment is not used in the INTEGRITY Slurry Irrigation System so there is virtually no compaction to interfere with crop yields.
FLEXIBILITY - Contract manure haulers are simply not always there when needed. Lagoons can overflow or land application occurs at the convenience of the contractor rather than the producer. Or even if the producer self-hauls, the windows of opportunity in the spring and fall can be very small depending on weather and soil conditions. The PulseJet, however, is always at hand to lower the lagoon when needed or when prime opportunities arise. The application can easily be altered so manure can be applied under conditions that would never permit a tanker in the field. With an INTEGRITY manure treatment system, manure liquids can be applied most of the summer on growing crops.
COST - It takes lots of big equipment, lots of horsepower, and loads of fuel, time and man-hours to get manure on the fields by tanker. The INTEGRITY PulseJet Irrigation System delivers liquids to the PulseJet with just a 10hp pump up to five (or more) miles from the lagoon. Big equipment and fuel are not required. Labor inputs are extremely low - less than one hour per day.
THE UNEXPECTED - A tanker overturned in the ditch, a high volume line rupture, township restrictions on tanker traffic, mud on the roads, neighbor complaints, clogged pumps, equipment breakdowns, etc. While the unexpected can never be ruled-out, the exposure to risks using the INTEGRITY PulseJet Irrigation System is minimal because the system is so simple. There is only a 10 H.P. pump, the PulseJet irrigation device and the EcoSafe Controller.
TERRAIN - Often, there are areas where heavy manure application equipment cannot be used because of steep terrain or soft conditions. An INTEGRITY Pulsejet can be stationed virtually anywhere, even in the woods. It is a convenient method of getting nutrients and organics to otherwise hard to get to places under conditions that might prevent the use of tankers.
